Dan Cohen AUTHOR Officials today are scheduled to formally dedicate a 28-megawatt solar array at Vandenberg AFB, Calif., which is projected to reduce base energy costs by about $1.75 million annually over the next 25 years, reports the Santa Ynez Valley News. Equally important, the project will provide the installation a redundant source of power for its space launch and tracking mission, Dan Gerdes, rates and renewables division chief for the Air Force Civil Engineer Center, said last year. “Using a long-term contract with fixed costs ensures we have the electricity we need, when we need it and broadens the pool we have for power sources there. Puri JagannadhTwitterDirector Puri Jagannadh made a shocking admission on copying movie iBoy without referring to it. He said that the chip concept from iSmart Shankar starring Ram Pothineni is inspired by Hollywood movies.iSmart Shankar is slated for release in the cinema halls on July 18. Kick-starting its publicity, the makers of the film recently released its trailer on the internet. The chip concept featured in this video fuelled speculations that the movie must be a copy of the Hollywood film iBoy starring Bill Milner. In an interview, Puri Jagannadh, who is currently busy with the promotions of iSmart Shankar, admitted that a portion of the movie has been inspired by Hollywood films, but did not mention the name of iBoy.”I did not have a hit after Temper and this was hurting me big time. Somehow I wanted to make a hit film and in this process met Ram. He told me to write a bad boy kind of a role for him and that is how ISmart Shankar was born. The chip concept is inspired by Hollywood films and I have set the rest of the story in Telangana,” Puri Jagannadh told in an interview to 123Telugu.The director denied having difficulty in adapting the Telangana dialect for iSmart Shankar. “I did not do any homework for the Telangana backdrop. One of my co-directors helped me with the dialect and as my wife is from Telangana I am used to this style of speaking at home,” added Puri Jagannadh.Talking about Ram Pothineni, Puri Jagannadh heaped praises on the hero. The director said, “Ram has this crazy energy which has not been tapped by many directors. I tried to bring all of that out and as his role is a local mass guy, Ram has gone all out and his performance is the biggest highlights of the film. I feel that the newcomers should learn how to act after seeing Ram’s performance.”iSmart Shankar is an action film, which is written and directed by Puri Jagannadh, who has also jointly produced it with actress Charmme Kaur. Ram Pothineni is seen romancing two young actresses like Nidhhi Agerwal and Nabha Natesh in the film, which is expected to bring back the fallen glory of both the hero and director.
In the upcoming Test championship, players will sport their numbers and name on the back of their white shirt. However, when it comes to the Indian team, it will not see two numbers – 10 and 7. While number 10, which is Sachin Tendulkar’s jersey, has been unofficially retired by the BCCI, MS Dhoni’s number 7 jersey might also not be opted for by the players. It is now learnt that most of the Indian players will opt for their limited-overs jersey numbers.”Virat is expected to wear 18 while Rohit wears 45. Most of the players will wear their respective ODI and T20 numbers. Since MS is no longer playing Test cricket, jersey No.7 is available but there is very little chance that any of the players will wear it,” a senior BCCI official told PTI on condition of anonymity.’BCCI’s gesture to pay tribute to Dhoni’ MS DhoniHannah Peters/Getty Images”People relate jersey No 7 with MS. The consignment of numbered jerseys will only arrive in the Caribbean only after ODI series,” he further added. It should be mentioned here, that a jersey cannot be officially retired, but the BCCI could opt for a move which pays respect to a player of MS Dhoni’s stature in Indian cricket. As far as his international career is concerned, the former Indian captain is not part of India’s limited-overs squads for the West Indies tour. There are speculations over his retirement, but statements by few BCCI officials have suggested that the wicket-keeper is not yet keen to move on.Former Indian captain Mohammad Azharuddin too said that communication between the selectors and Dhoni will be vital as he enters the final lap of his career.”About big player, the player is also taken into confidence and spoken to. I feel some decision will come. Otherwise, people will keep writing that (he) should retire, not retire. Because, no statement has come from Dhoni,” Azhar said. File photo of MS DhoniSydney Seshibedi/Gallo Images/Getty ImagesHe also said that if the wicket-keeper batsman is fit and wants to continue playing, he should be backed to come good.”My opinion is that if he is fit and playing well, he should play. If he is fit and performance is good, he can play. Sometimes what happens is, interest is lost after playing so much cricket. If his interest is still 100 per cent, I feel, he is good player and he should play,” he further added.Even as the Indian team travels to West Indies, Dhoni has opted to train with the Territorial Army battalion of the parachute regiment and this request has been approved by Indian Army chief Bipin Rawat.
Film festivals are often described as a melting pot of cultures and that’s exactly what the much revered Indian Film Festival of Melbourne stands for. Taking their theme of courage forward, the year’s most notable Tamil film Super Deluxe is all set to be screened at the festival. The film, directed by Thiagarajan Kumararaja, has been nominated in the Best Actor, Best Director and Best Film categories at the event and has been hailed as the bravest film to come off Tamil cinema in a long time.Since IFFM is symbolic of the celebration of Indian cinema, it was necessary that the curated films be representative of the current wave of cinema in the country.Festival Director Mitu Bhowmick says, “In times of social media, when films can be consumed in a personal space, we are viewing films regardless of the language they are made in. Super Deluxe became an instant hit and the social media couldn’t stop raving about its nuanced treatment. It is essential for the world to see Indian cinema as more than just Hindi films. Though the explosion since Bahubali has rightly moved the focus to films made in regional languages, a broader audience have to be exposed to gems like Super Deluxe to understand the real power and potential of Indian films. It was, thus, essential for me to bring this beautiful film to the Indian audience in Melbourne. The film’s leading actor Vijay Sethupathi, actress Gayathri and the director Thiagarajan Kumararaja will also be at the festival to talk about this wonderful film”.Considered to be the right blend of pop culture and philosophy, the film’s director is equally excited to take his baby to a whole new set of viewers. He said, “An artistic work gives pleasure in two phases 1. When it is made 2. When it is consumed. I am very happy that Super Deluxe is transcending territories and language barriers. I’m looking forward to being at IFFM Australia” A poster from Vijay Sethupathi’s Super Deluxe.PR Handout RelatedVijay Sethupathi to play Muttiah Muralitharan in Sri Lankan legend’s biopic: ReportSpider-Man: Far From Home strikes gold in Chennai, outperforms Raatchasi and Kalavani 2Amala Paul’s nude act in Aadai costs Vijay Sethupathi’s VSP33; actress breaks silence on unceremonious ousting
