Yes, that means that once you’ve ticked them off the list, you don’t have to do a darn thing for another whole year.”Here’s the full list of chores that only need to be performed once a year, according to the Good Housekeeping Institute:Wipe down the window frames – use a brush to sweep off dirt around the frame. Use a washing-up liquid solution or multi-purpose spray cleaner to remove stubborn grime.Purge your kitchen drawer (also known as the “man drawer”) – this is the place where unclaimed items get stashed when there is nowhere else to put them. Once a year, tip it all out and re-evaluate what you’ve collected and decide what you don’t need anymore. Be ruthless!Wipe your lightbulbs – these get sticky and dusty (especially in the kitchen and bathroom) and it’s amazing how much light this cuts out. Switch off, unscrew and wipe with a damp cloth, making sure to stay well away from the screw or bayonet end.Wash your curtains – curtain fabric collects dust. Pop them in the washing machine or take them to your local dry cleaner.Blitz the fireplace – got a real fire? Before you set the first fire of the season, call in the professionals to give the chimney a clean.Deep clean upholstered furniture – vacuum thoroughly, wash or dry-clean loose covers and if they cannot be removed have them cleaned professionally.Wipe down outdoor furniture – add a squirt of washing-up liquid to a bowl of warm water, and then wipe down tables and chairs with a damp cloth. Finish it all off with a spray of water from the garden hose.Deep clean your carpet – rent a carpet cleaner, such as a RugDoctor. But if your carpet is really stained, don’t expect miracles! It may be time to consider rearranging the furniture or a strategically placed rug.Empty your gutters – give gutters a good clean with a stiff brush, then invest in a gutter brush. Water can still flow freely along the gutters but the brush will stop leaves from getting stuck in your pipes and blocking them.  Household chores that only need to be done once a year have been revealed by experts, who also described the cheats to make them even easier. The list of nine tasks has been compiled by Good Housekeeping Institute domestic gurus, who say they only need to be performed every 12 months. From wiping down window frames to clearing out the “man drawer” in the kitchen, they are the kind of tasks that even the most time-pressed householder can do and then forget about for a year.
