Among the many reasons behind Mumbai Indians’ title win in the Indian Premier League this season, one major reason has been the performance of the Pandya brothers – Krunal and Hardik. The duo hit form during the course of the tournament this year and formed the backbone of the Mumbai team.In Hardik and Krunal, Mumbai had two outstanding all-rounders who performed with both bat and ball whenever the team needed them. Hardik scored 250 runs in 17 matches at 35.71 and took six wickets while Krunal amassed 243 runs in 13 games at 34.71 and took 10 wickets at 27.30.Krunal infact was the main reason behind Mumbai reaching 129/8 in the final. Krunal top-scored with a quickfire 38-ball 47 which gave the bowlers something to defend in a low-scoring match at the Rajiv Gandhi International stadium. Jasprit Bumrah and Mitchell Johnson then starred with the ball and restricted Rising Pune Supergiant to 128/6, handing Mumbai a one-run victory.Krunal was adjudged Man of the Match for his performance in the final which made Hardik very proud of his elder brother.”I am just proud of him. He has delivered champion performances time and again in this tournament and I am just glad to be sharing this moment with my brother,” Hardik told iplt20.com after the match.”He has worked very hard for this moment and has put in the hard yards over the last couple of years. Now he is here and he truly deserves it. Champion stuff.”Krunal shared similar emotions and couldn’t thank his brother enough for all the support he had given him throughout the season. “I give Hardik a lot of credit for my success,” Krunal said.advertisement”Also, our parents have always supported us till date irrespective of our performances and results. We would also like to thank our coach back home who has helped us day in and day out. Credit to the entire Mumbai Indians support staff and team management who have made us feel like family. Special mention for Kiran More sir, whose academy we have been playing for since childhood.”Performing in the all-important final and emerging as the Man of the Match was a dream come true for Krunal.”It is a dream come true for me. To play an IPL final and contribute to a winning cause is a proud feeling. A big game, on a big night and to end up lifting the trophy is a huge moment for me,” Krunal said. The Pandyas also thanked their childhood coach, Jitendra Singh, and credited him for their success.”Coach, we are here because of you. You are the real champion. Because of you, we are standing here. I have two IPL trophies and Krunal has one now. Thank you for everything,” Hardik concluded.
