first_img Authorities Raytheon, Diehl get $28M for work on RAM missile systems View post tag: Diehl BGT Defence The U.S. Naval Sea Systems Command has awarded Raytheon Missile Systems a $28 million contract for the production of Navy Rolling Airframe Missile (RAM) MK 49 Mod 3 guided missile launching systems.RAM is a guided-missile system designed to destroy anti-ship missiles.The latest version of the system, RAM Block 2, features a larger, more powerful rocket motor and advanced control section making the missile two and a half times more maneuverable and effective. According to Raytheon, an enhanced RF receiver allows detection of anti-ship missiles that employ low probability of intercept receivers.The system is used by a number of navies in the world and is built bay Raytheon and German defense contractor Diehl BGT Defence. A third of the work on the latest contract will be carried out in Ottobrunn, Germany, the navy noted.
