Committee passes Sullivan’s Dealer Services Bill

first_imgThe House Committee on Roads and Transportation voted unanimously Wednesday in support of State Rep. Holli Sullivan’s (R-Evansville) bill transferring responsibility of dealer/temporary plates from the Bureau of Motor Vehicles to the Indiana Secretary of State’s office.“As an industrial engineer, streamlining government for my constituents is always one of my top priorities,” Sullivan said. “It was a pleasure to work with Secretary Connie Lawson’s office on this effort to clarify the law and improve the division of dealer services.”If passed, House Bill 1365 would transfer responsibility for dealer/temporary license plates from the BMV to the Secretary of State after June 30, 2017.“I would like to thank Representative Sullivan for her work on this legislation,” Lawson said. “This bill will give automotive consumers an added convenience of 45 days to use paper license plates, plus increased protections for a driver’s personal information. In addition, it is important to the industry because dealers will now have 31 days to deliver titles to consumers after a vehicle purchase.”FacebookTwitterCopy LinkEmailSharelast_img read more
